Just ask for prayer for quidence from God for the right direction and that I do his will. Pray that I dont make the same mistakes and dissapoint God. That God open my heart so I can hear from him. Sometime my heart seem so cloudy and it seems as if though my dreams are fading. I'm trying to write a book about the moments of my life so that the struggles that i've been through I let others know that with God always being the center of my life.

Greetings from Tacoma, Washington. I am a Stephen Minister at our church, St. Mark's Lutheran Church by the Narrows. I'm in a long process of healing from a bad infection in my spine and neck. Our Stephen Ministry Team has been without me since December, but I try to remain active with my Care Receiver and others of my congregation in need. I moved to Tacoma from Ashland, Kentucky in 2007....came to this church by chance with friends, and the welcoming spirit was so great, I joined and was baptized here. I've learned that we are all stewards of each other, stewards of our Earth, and also stewards to ourselves. I guess I just wanted to reach out with a friendly "hello" to fellow Lutherans. I was impressed with your welcoming statement, and will monitor your website when I can.
,
Sincerely, as a servant in Christ's Glory
,
Dan Payne

My family and I look forward to worshipping with your congregation on Easter Sunday. I visited your church 18 years ago for the baptism of my niece.

Hi, I was so happy to see you have a website. I was baptised at Calvary Lutheran by the Sea in about 1982? Do you still have a church directory? I am very interested to see who might still be attending that I may know. Doug Olson was the pastor at that time. I no longer see his name here? I loved this church, its congregation and works! Nice to be reconnected and see sermons on line. Shirley

I spent two Sundays in October 2010 at the worship services, and I loved them! The setting, the people, and the services were wonderful. I was the guest of Leslie and Dave Dorman, and I'm looking forward to returning to Hawaii in September.

Dear Jim,
You were our minister at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Mike Knudsen. Later in Hawaii. I have often thought of you yet never took steps to locate a bit of your life's path. (Though Google assisted here.) In church this morning I promised myself to do a search. (Christ Lutheran Church, Brea, North Orange County, Calif. - Pastor Dannenbring.) Here I am! First and foremost I do not think I ever thanked you enough for shelter and a job in Hawaii in 1962! It gave me wonderful memories while in the Army - being threatened with the draft almost as I left Hawaii in August. I enlisted, had a safe three year term, and am comfortable with my life and now, retirement.
I found Myrus Knudsen, though was sad that he passed away. And I am blessed with a WONDERFUL wife, three daughters, and two grandsons (one adopted from Mexico) and a granddaughter.
Your wife and family? I hope all are well; you are a good person by bringing orphaned children into your family.
I call John Moe (at least once a decade) to update with him.
Your rememberance and blessing is the only reply I need.
My best to your family.
Ron Erickson

Thank you so much for being so VERY welcoming to my daughter, Erin, and I on the 8th of August. We are planning on coming to Hawaii in 2011, and were looking for a church as part of the "thinking" process. You all impressed us with you openness and willingness to accept us, even though we were visitors.
We are hoping and praying that Erin gets accepted to UH-Manoa in the fall of 2011, and that I can find employment, a residence, and the funding to make it all possible. Hawaii is the home of our hearts and dreams.
Thank you again, we will be back.
Monika

I lived in HI and was part of Calvary from '82 to '84. I am curious how to contact Doug & Ivy and how they are doing. Over the years I have done bits of the Course in Miracles and right now am really doing it very dedicated and having some miracles because of it. Makes me think of Doug and how he had such an impression on me at 20 years old and how that has lasted and stuck with me. Wanted to thank you Doug, if you get this.
Much love to everyone,
Patti Bee (Borski)

I attended Calvary Lutheran Church in the 70's and remember Tuesday Night Group in the old parish house on the beach. I was married there to Holly Hebgen in 1970 in the old church by the highway.
Doug Olson is my son's Godfather. I remember Intern Pastor Dave Lura, and church member Warren Stewart. Does anyone remember me?

I attended Calvary by the Sea while stationed in Pearl Harbor from 1993 to 1996. I plan to return to Hawaii this summer for my wedding and am looking for a lutheran pastor to perform the ceremony. I got to know Doug Olson while there and am wondering if he still performs weddings. Is there a way to contact him?

Do you remember me? I used to attend Calvary in the mid to late '80's. You have no idea how often I
think of Calvary and the many friends I made there. Here I am sitting in my office and trying to concentrate
on work but being distracted by the snow storm and wishing I were some where warm. Just thought I
might check to see if Calvary had a website and sure enough you do. YEA!
I take it Doug and Ivy Olson have retired. What a profound impact he made on my life. I shall never
forget them. What a wonderful impact Calvary made on me. It is only with fond memories that I think of
you all and what a wonderful surprise to see you still there.
I realize you are quite busy, but if you remember me and if you ever have a few minutes, I would welcome
a note from you.

Aloha to all of you! I was hoping to visit the church when I was on Oahu in July, but it just didn't work out. Michelle Agrimson Meyer

It appears from the photographs that your new sanctuary is in the location of what was an older, large home that sat on the property near the beach. It is a spectacularly beautiful building.
Thank you for sharing these wonderful images,

I did (finally) receive the Chrismas card from a friend that kept arriving at the church -2 times!
My address was correct on the front. Who knows why you kept receiving it?
Thank you so much for taking the time and caring by sending it on personally to me. I am most grateful and do appreciate it!

I just came to sign this to say that I remember learning at the school, and I remember Chapel, every Friday, and the light shining through the windows would be the most beautiful thing imaginable. And then, I remember those long, playful walks on the beach at the end of the day, in Kindergarten. But what I remember most is all of the fun I had at school. Calvary was a place to be at home, to love. It was my favorite place, besides with my family, to be, and I was almost in tears, almost begging for the school to extend and have a first grade. But I didn't, and my life has been blessed, it seems. It's so good to be able to remember.
My father and I drive by Calvary every day on my way to school and back. And every time I look at the crosses on the front, I remember asking my teacher, 'Why are those crosses there, Ms. Christine?' Maybe one day I'll forget, but for now, as long as I live here, and pass it every day, no many how many years pass, I'll remember all of the good times spend at Calvary, and I'll remember the nourishment and love that you all provided. I know I don't sound like an eleven year old girl, but I am. I really am.
Aloha to you all,
Alison

My family and I are coming to visit family in Nov (17 - 24) and would love to attend a service (the only date would be Nov 19). We belong to the New Hope Lutheran Church in Columbia, Maryland (ELCA). I was born and raised in Honolulu and moved to the east coast in the 80's, and actually lived in Kuliouou. If there would be no conflict, please let me know. God Bless, Milton Okamoto.
