CPR & AED Training for Lay Responders
Did you know that when a person has a cardiac arrest, survival depends on getting immediate CPR from someone nearby? CPR can double, or even triple, a victim’s chance of survival! Chest compressions push oxygen through the body to keep vital organs alive.
Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public location die because they don't receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. As a bystander, don't be afraid. Your actions can only help.
The American Heart Association's CPR and AED learning programs helps increase survival rates by training people just like you to respond quickly. The sad truth is most people don't survive a cardiac arrest. Four to six minutes is the window of opportunity for someone to act before it's too late, but fewer than one-third of cardiac arrest victims get CPR from someone nearby.
Studies show that Hands-Only™ CPR, which only involves two simple steps, can be as effective as conventional CPR.
The use of CPR dates all the way back to 1740, yet even today, most Americans don’t know how to perform it. Given properly and immediately to sudden cardiac arrest victims, CPR can save lives!
Thanks to a generous gift by the Endowment Team, CBTS members can learn this life saving technique at no-charge!
