Edison Munthe, Lutheran Bishop from Aceh Province, to talk on Sunday, 30 Oct 2005 about the Tsunami

Posted by: Pulelehua on Sat, Nov 26, 2005

ev Munthe was bishop in North Sumatra , the region hardest hit by the Tsunami in December, 2004.

At both services, he will describe the impact of this on his community, and how the response of the government needed to be supplemented by personal support for many individual grass-root families of all faiths, to help their long-term recovery.

The 10:00 a.m. service will be followed by a “Talk Story” time.

A brief article is in the Star-Bulletin of 22 Oct 2005: http://starbulletin.com/2005/10/22/news/story07.html

Pastor Munthe was President of the Lutheran Seminary in North Sumatra, and has been very active in work with youth who have to cope with current cultural and economic stresses, especially in the Third World .  He has also been a leader in Pastoral Development.
