Information about the Swine Flu

Posted by: J Pick on Thu, Apr 30, 2009

Dear CBTSMS Parents,

The news has been full of information about the Swine Flu.  We wanted to share with you some information that may be helpful as it pertains to our Preschool.  We have had NO reported cases.
  • Symptoms include ones that are typically seen in "regular" flu:  fever, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue and possible diarrhea and vomiting.  Watch for worsening conditions.  Call your family physician if you have concerns.
  • Since it is spread from human to human contact by coughing or sneezing secretions, it is highly recommended that anyone stay home from work or school if exhibiting any of these symptoms!!  To reduce the spread of any virus, please keep your child home if he or she is ill.  Remember that children need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.  Please call the School Office if your child is ill.
  • Precautions:  Number 1 - frequent HANDWASHING!  (We do this a lot at school)  Avoid touching your mouth, nose or eyes as germs are spread that way.  Avoid close contact with sick people.  Cover your nose and mouth with inside of arm/elbow when you cough or sneeze.  Throw away your tissue.  Wash your hands.
